Siege of Mafeking
Oct 1899 to May 1900 A British success or Boer failure?
Mafeking, a small town on the Botswana border had
immense strategic importance to both British & Boer in the 2nd Boer war.
British garrison besieged for 7 months, received immense celebration in Britain.
Baden Powell, had prepared for a Boer attack became
a hero and went on to form the international scout movement.
