It’s not all about the big beasties, don’t forget the small creatures too!
Walk amongst the shy endemic game in the 120HA pristine bushveld mixed with riverine and Highveld savanna vegetation. Different biomes revealing the different flora and fauna. Mountain reedbuck, Birchells zebra, Kudu, Blesbok and Red Haartbees and other smaller beasties wander the hills. Excellent bird life includes a variety of raptors both resident and migrant as well as the ever present LBJs. Rehabilitated, released barn owls often attend suppers and can be fed outside the dining room by guests. Kevin, the bushbaby, and his ‘gang’ sometimes arrive at the outside entertainment area for snacks.

Warthogs Bush Camp just outside of Magaliesburg lends itself to family gatherings, small conferences, weddings and action-packed weekends filled with nature themed activities such as trail runs or mountain biking. Tucked away in the Magalies Meander, an hour’s drive from both Johannesburg and Pretoria, Warthogs Bush Camp has 10 chalets accommodating 20 people sharing as well as 14 tents. The ambiance of the dining area, outside lapa and two pools allows you to escape the buzz of city life and enter the tranquil African bushveld.
Game drives and Spa treatments are available from our sister property, Askari Game Lodge & Spa just 4km down the road. Warthogs itself has a selection of Kudu, Blesbok, Rooihartebees and of course warthogs. Bird clubs love this venue with its dedicated walking routes and often book the entire lodge for birding weekends.
