Burchells Coucal  often called the ”rainbird”

Has a musical bubbling call

Normally found in gardens foraging along the ground in shrubbery or in ground covers

It’s a resident species and normally found in pairs

Has a wide range of food items from snails, reptiles, small mammals , small birds and eggs

Often found raiding bird nests in the thickets

Often seen sunning itself in the open on bushes as the sun rises

Common sight in Magaliesberg
